A recent trip to the Atlanta Apparel Mart by Emmy’s Prom buyers to purchase the prom dresses Emmy’s will sell in 2023 left us bursting with excitement about the new styles and colors available. Emmy’s is your hometown store, but just because we are nearby doesn’t mean we won’t have the best the prom industry has to offer available to our local prom customers!

Individuality will be easy to express at the prom this year, thanks to the huge selection of unique prom dresses currently available in stores. Various patterns, colors, silhouettes and fabrics combine to let each girl find the perfect dress for her.  After you find your perfect gown, ask whether or not the store you’re shopping in has a prom registry.  Emmy’s Prom does! Many stores ( like Emmy’s) will only sell one dress per style per school in an effort to help you be the only one in the gown you’ve chosen.

Sequins are in for 2023 in a BIG way! Whether as an accent or allover hand beading on a straight skirt or sheet sequins covering an entire ball gown, sparkly sequins in every color imaginable are here! Also popular for prom is glitter and lots of it! Designers have developed new techniques to incorporate glitter, weaving threads directly into the fabric, applying to the surface or adhering to tulle skirts. Customers are loving the glitter for its fabulous shine at a reasonable price.  

The Trending colors for 2023 are BRIGHT! Neons in pink, yellow, orange and lime will be seen at every dance. Bright “Barbie Pink” is especially popular. Traditional dress colors like navy, red, green and black are still strong.  Newer colors like wine, slate blue and shades of gold are also taking center stage.  Yellow continues to be popular as a sought after color for prom along with more pastels than seen in recent years.

Silhouettes and fabrics follow bridal trends in many ways.  Flowing a-lines and dresses that are not strapless are continuing to be popular.  Many styles emphasize fit with body conscious sheer cutouts at the sides or back and in some cases less embellishments and beading overall.  Form fitting stretch jersey styles offer both elegance and comfort. Flowing chiffon and organza A-line skirts falling from fitted waistlines are both sophisticated and fun.  Full satin, sequin or tulle ball gowns are also available for the girl who wants the Cinderella look.  What does your perfect dress for Prom 2023 look like?
