ALTERATIONS
We are pleased to offer alterations to our Brides and Mother’s Dress customers who purchased at Emmy’s Bridal. Alterations are not included in the price of the dresses.
A rush charge may be added when alterations are started less than 4 weeks before
the event.
Alterations are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Call 419-628-7555 to make your alteration appointment.
Emmy’s no longer alters Bridesmaid, Prom, and Homecoming dresses. A referral list of local seamstresses is available upon request.
About Emmy’s Alterations
The cost of alterations varies depending on the number of changes needed for a particular style of dress. The cost of alterations is never included in the price of the dress itself.
When placing your initial dress order, we will take measurements and suggest an appropriate size to order. Remember, these dresses are not custom-made to your measurements, but every effort will be made to get the best possible fit with the size ordered.
Preparing for your Alteration Appointment
- Make your appointment by calling 419-628-7555.
- Bring your shoes
- Preferably the actual shoes you plan on wearing
- Flats can be different heights, so we need the exact shoe
- Bring undergarments you plan on wearing with your dress—i.e, bra, spanx, etc
- These can affect the fit of the dress
Any additional alterations resulting from a fitting done without the appropriate shoes/undergarments may result in additional charges.
Pregnant Customers
If you know you will be PREGNANT or may become pregnant before the wedding, please let us know. We are happy to accommodate pregnant customers, but we need you to be aware of the following:
- You may be asked to order a dress several sizes larger than your pre-pregnancy size.
- It may be necessary to order 2 or more yards of fabric and/or lining to convert your dress to a maternity style. Cost of fabric is $30 per yard.
- While some styles convert easily, many dresses require considerable restructuring to look good and be comfortable for the wedding day. This is much more time-consuming than “regular” alterations. Expect your alteration charges with your seamstress to be higher than usual.
If you find out you are pregnant after the dresses are ordered, we CANNOT change your size. We will order the necessary fabric to complete your alterations; see above. Emmys is not responsible for Dye Lot variations of fabric orders that are not placed with the original bridesmaid order.
