We are pleased to offer alterations to our Brides and Mother’s Dress customers. Emmy’s no longer alters Bridesmaid, Prom and Homecoming dresses. A referral list of local seamstresses is available upon request.

About Emmy’s Bridal alterations

Emmy’s Alteration Specialists ONLY alter gowns purchased at Emmy’s Bridal. Alterations are not included in the price of the dresses. A RUSH CHARGE OF $20 may be added when alterations are started less than 4 weeks before the wear date (wedding or prom). Alterations are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Call 419-628-7555 to make your alteration appointment.

Preparing for your alterations appointment

You Must bring the shoes you plan to wear with your dress (unless it’s a short dress) and any undergarments that will affect the fit of the dress (i.e. strapless bra, Spanx) with you to your fitting appointment. Any additional alterations resulting from a fitting done without the appropriate shoes/undergarments may result in additional charges. We will measure you and suggest an appropriate size to order. You will be consulted as to the size you would prefer to order. Remember, these dresses are not custom made to your measurements, but every effort will be made to get the best possible fit with the size ordered.

Pregnant customers

If you know you will be PREGNANT or may become pregnant before the wedding, please let us know. We are happy to accommodate pregnant customers but we need you to be aware of the following:

• You may be asked to order a dress several sizes larger than your pre-pregnancy size.
• It may be necessary to order 2 or more yards of fabric and/or lining to convert your dress to a maternity style. Cost of fabric is $25 per yard.
• While some styles convert easily, many dresses require considerable restructuring to look good and be comfortable for the wedding day. This is much more time consuming than “regular” alterations. Expect your alteration charges to be higher than usual.
• Your alterations will not begin as soon as the others in the wedding party as we will want you to be as close to the size you will be at the wedding before we begin. It may take additional fittings to complete your alterations.

If you find out you are pregnant after the dresses are ordered, we CANNOT change your size. We will order the necessary fabric to complete your alterations, see above. Emmys IS NOT responsible for Dye Lot variations of fabric orders that are not placed with the original bridesmaid order.
